Pokhara—Ansu Shakya, 20, from Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City, Tersapatti won the title of Miss Newa Pokhara 1137 on Saturday. Defeating her 17 rivals, Ansu also bagged the title of Miss Talent in the pageant.
She received Rs 40,000 and CD LED TV including gift hampers. Miss Newa 1136 Alisha Joshi offered silver crown to Shakya during a final battle. Nikita Ligal from Ramkrishna Tol became first runner up to bag Rs 25,000 cash prize and CG’s micro oven in the contest organized by Newa Khala: Kaski.
Similarly, Prarthana Dangol from Chipledhunga was crowned as 2nd runner up. She also bagged the title of best personality to receive Rs 15,000. Speaking in a concluding ceremony, Newa Khala Kaski Chairman Ashok Palikhe informed that the program was organized to save Newari language, culture and tradition. He also thanked for the role of participants who also contributed in their sector to save the Newari culture.
Chief Guest and Pokhara High Court Justice Tilak Prasad Shrestha, program coordinator Shambhu Lal Shrestha, jury chief Krishna Mohan Shrestha and Miss Newa Pokhara 1136 winner Alisha Joshi expressed their remarks during the program.
Shanti Udas, Niranjan Shrestha, Ratna Kaji Maharjan, Rajbhai Jakami and Arati Shrestha were also in the jury. Kumari Dance, Charya Dance, Dhime Baja and other Newari dances were included in the program. The saved funds are to be invested to conserve the Newari culture and to construct some physical structures.
