Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Defeating her 9 rivals, Mira Rai, 29, from Nepal’s remote Bhojpur District has won the international trail race and became the Adventure of the Year 2017 of National Geographic.
Mira, who raised fetching water, tending crops and livestock and helping home as well as struggling with uphill and downhill of Sano Dumja area, later joined the Maoists’ people liberation army at the age of 14. Unfortunately she was disqualified to join the Nepali Army following the war settlement.
Every year National Geographic chooses 10 extraordinary people as part of its annual Adventurers of the Year awards. They look for people from across the world who have realized big dreams in exploration, conservation, cultural restoration, adventure sports, and humanitarianism.
In such scenario, Mira has become the adventure hero this time on basis of voting around the world. Mira who is a member of a farmer family, is the eldest daughter of five children. She never took part in fighting during war however she excelled in running and karate.
