Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: The 7th Pokhara Festival has kicked off at Amarsingh Chaur in Kaski today. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the festival in a formal ceremony. According to organizer United Club Pokhara (UCP) Chairman and festival coordinator Suk Bahadur Gurung, there are a total of 240 stall in 11 day long festival.
Cultural presentation, stalls of industrial goods, handicrafts, IT goods, service sectors’ offerings, tourism related stalls and dummy of zoo that UCP is going to develop nearby Rupa Lake are some of the attractions of the festival. Duet songs, performances of local and national level artistes, live bands, comedians’ performance, restaurants and Children Park also are included in the festival.
UCP General Secretary Raju Shrestha informed that the festival has been organizing to collect funds and to aware people about the establishment of zoo in Pachabhaiya and Chainpur area of Kaski, for years. The club has also allocated some funds to conserve the Seti River of Pokhara. Thousands of people, mothers groups, and cultural groups marched in the street of Pokhara to reach festival venue today before the inaugural ceremony.
NTNC former member secretary Juddha Bahadur Gurung, lawmakers Yagya Bahadur Thapa and Sharada Paudel, FNJ Kaski Chairman Ram Krishna Gnwali, CPN-UML Kaski Chairman Krishna Thapa, CPN-MC Kaski Coordinator Dipak Koirala, Western Regional Forest Director Dhananjaya Paudel, CG Hardware proprietor Dinesh Prasad Chaudhary, UCP former Chairman Himalaya Bakhrel, Amarsingh School’s Chairman Bayan Bahadur Chhetri, social worker Fatte Bahadur Gurung, UCP vice president Lal Kaji Gurung delivered their views during the opening ceremony.
