Pokhara gets 1000 sets of solar street lights from Tibet

Recentfusion.com–Pokhara: The Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, an autonomous region in the People’s Republic of China has donated 1,000 sets of solar street lights, in Pokhara on Monday.

Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City (PSMC) Office Chief Executive Officer Naba Raj Dhangana and Ma Qinsheng, Deputy Director General of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, TAR, PRC, signed an accord for the solar lights worth rupees 150 million, in the presence of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President and solar light project’s chief facilitator Bishwo Shankar Palikhe.

According to Palikhe, those solar lights would be installed from Bijaypur to Hallan Chok along the road side in Pokhara. The installation would be commenced from January of 2017 and would be concluded within the period of 1 year. PSMC got those solar lights as Tibet Government was requested by Linzi that has clinched sister relationship with Pokhara City.

Speaking in a signing in ceremony, Deputy Director Qinsheng appreciated the one China policy of Nepal Government. Saying that Nepal is a good friend, supporter and partner of their northern neighbor, Qinsheng added that Nepal could be benefited from the socio-economic development of Tibet. He also hoped that the solar light project would be helpful in economic development of Pokhara.

PSMC CEO Dhungana said that the relationship between Nepal and China should be expanded to people to people level. Recalling the long relationship between two countries, he thanked Tibet Government for donating solar lights to Pokhara.

PCCI president Palikhe, who is also a president of Nepal-China People Friendship Association, said that the help of solar street lights is a big and important support to Pokhara from Tibet in the time that Nepal and China are going through 60 years of Diplomatic Relation tied between them.

Palikhe also requested to China Government to establish a vocational training center in Nepal so that Nepali workers who are semi-skilled and wish to go for foreign employment could be benefited. PCCI External Affairs Department Coordinator Prakash Dev Palikhe was master of ceremonies.
