108 ft. tall Shiva statue to be built in Pumdikot

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara:  A giant 108 feet tall Shiva statue is to be built at Pumdikot in Pokhara Sub-Metropolital City- 26, within two years of period.  Lord Shiva also known as Mahadev is the supreme in Shaivism and he is also believed a creator, destroyer and regenerator in that society.

The Pumdikot Bishal Mahadev Murti Nirman, Upabhokta and Tourism Promotion Committee would build that statue in 52.5 million Nepali rupees, informed that committee chairman Chandra Kanta Baral. The committee yesterday organized a press meet in Pumdikot to inform about the detail plan to journalists.

According to chairman Baral, the statue which would be constructed in the premises of 17 ropanis of land where a view tower has already been erected. The statue of symbolic peace, meditation center, martyr memorial park, Aquarium garden, play area, smart pillar, multipurpose hall, museum, shop, water fountain and Kot temple would also be built in statue area.

All that above construction works would be completed within the period of five years and that costs 210 million Nepali rupees, informed committee chairman Baral. Promotion of tourism and stopping local youth from going aboard, creating employment in their village are the key motto behind the statue constriction. The committee also wishes to attract the visitors who reach to visit World Peace Pagoda nearby Pumdikot.

Pumdikot is a touristic and historic place. It’s also a sacred place for all the local people. They offer Puja to Bhume Devata for rain as there comes drought and hampers cultivation. They also believe that the Bhume Devata reduces the trend of hailstones.

Western Regional Administrator and Nepal Government setretary Khag Raj Baral and committee adviser Ramji Baral also put expressed their views during the press meet.
