Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari awarded Hem Devi Religion Culture and Social Service prize to senior culturist and scholar Satya Mohan Joshi, 96, in Pokhara on Thursday.
President Bhandari handed over the prize worth rupees 0.1 million to Joshi in a special ceremony organized by Bindhayabasini Dharmik Chhetra Development Committee (BDCDC) in the temple premises.
Addressing the program, President Bhandari appreciated the committee for doing good job in the development of religion and Nepali culture. She also appreciated the culturist Joshi for his continued contribution in the sector of Nepali culture and the religion. Saying that Pokhara is beautiful city, she added the city is culturally and naturally rich.
The national prize is awarded every two years to the person who works for the development and conservation of religion and contributes in social sector. The prize with provident fund worth rupees 1.5 million was established by social worker Hem Bahadur Pradhan who is also a founding president of BDCDC.
Speaking in a program, BDCDC secretary and poet Tirtha Sherstha said that the committee was proud of Mr. Joshi that BDCDC got an opportunity to acknowledge the person like Joshi who got the Madan Puraskar for thrice and contributed to take Nepali culture and religion to higher position.
BDCDC chairman Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha said that the committee had been doing several development and other Vedic tasks for the development of temple area. culturist Joshi and BDCDC founding chairman Pradhan also expressed their remarks during the program.
