More 500 ropanis of land to be acquired for Pokhara int’l airport

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the government was preparing to acquire more 500 ropanis (25.04 hectares) of land to lengthen the runway of proposed Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA).

Inaugurating a 31st general convention of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) today, Mahara vowed to extend the runway from 2500 meters to 3000 meters. Former Prime Mininster KP Sharma Oli had laid foundation stone to build PRIA on 13 April, 2016 in Chhine Danda of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City. The airport building contract had received China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd .

The government had acquired 3106 ropanis of land 4 decade before and latter, more 629 ropanis of land was acquired to build a new airport in touristy town Pokhara. Export Import Bank of China would provide USD 215 million soft loan to build the new airport in EPC model.

Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry acting president Krishor Kumar Pradhan, FNCCI former president Anand Raj Mulmi, PCCI former president Rajendra Kumar Lalchan, PCCI president Bindu Kumar Thapa, poet Tirtha Shrestha and PCCI first vice president Dev Chhetri also expressed remarks during the inaugural session.
