Lyricist Tirtha Tamang felicitated by Melody Award

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Lyricist Tirtha Tamang has been felicitated by Melody Award 2016 in Pokhara on Tuesday.

Tamang was awarded for his contribution in Nepali music sector. Melody Award was established and provided by Melody Cafe and Lounge Bar Chipledhunga’s 2nd anniversary. Culturist and poet Tirtha Shrestha and singer Binod Baniya, one of the owners of that restaurant handed over a cheque worth rupees 25,525 to Tamang in a special ceremony organized in PCCI auditorium.

A jury lead by poet Shrestha had recommended Tamang for that award. Tamang who has been in song writing sector for about 3 decades, was chosen from province number 4 for the first time. All total 30 songs written by Tamang have already been recorded. Byarthai feri ghaite mutu baljhiyo…was his first recorded song that was composed some 23 year before. The award was established to felicitate to the vocalist, composer and musician and whoever the person from music sector.

Tamang who hails from Batulechaur of Pokhara is in teaching field these days. The Melody Cafe that is owned by singer Baniya, Shekhar Sherchan, Ganesh Basaula and Ahok Kumar Gurung, has been contributing in social sector as well.
